• Before Thom had joined the Sacramento police department, he worked for a while as a bodyguard to some rich clients living in Los Angeles and Malibu. While it was well paying work, it was not rewarding work, and it was just so that Thom could make it through school (not wanting to depend on his parent's money). As soon as he was able to apply for the police department his father worked for, he was happy to drop the bodyguard gig.
• By the time Thom joined the police department, his father had made commissioner. Thom struggled a bit to gain the approval of his peers and fellow police officers to prove that he was dependable and was not chosen to be on the force because of his last name. He was given that chance when he was paired up with new officer. While on a case, there was a shootout and his partner was in the line of fire - Thom managed to save her life, and take down the suspect. With that, he not only earned the respect of the department, he earned the respect of his partner.
• Through his career in the Sacramento police department as a detective in Homicide, Thom and his partner were given the harder cases, always trying to prove themselves. Soon, they were given an anonymous tip that there were corrupt cops within the department. Thom didn't want to believe it, but his partner insisted they check it out. What it all lead to was finding out the corruption in the department went big, and the most corrupt person of all was Thom's dad, Commissioner Oswald.
• Devastated at what he had uncovered, Thom went to go confront his father, but came in at the wrong time - Thom managed to walk in while another police officer was holding a gun to the Commissioner and threatening him. Thom tried to act, but it was too late - the officer took down Thom's dad, and Thom shot the officer. What resulted was a long investigation, and while the corrupt officers were removed from the department, Thom had enough.
• Thom's partner Samantha was the only person that Thom felt he could trust, and he confided in her about his concerns about his father's death, and also the department. She shared in his concerns, and they both decided to leave the department and go into business for themselves. They decided that being Private Investigators would be the best way, and that they had to create a large distance between themselves and the place they used to call home. They decided the east coast was the best place for them, and decided on Boston after much debate.
• Midgard Investigations was founded in 2012 once Thom managed to find an apartment for himself and get settled. Hemanaged to get the word out about his new business, and using contacts that they used to have, managed to get some high profile cases.
• Personality wise, Thom can run a bit hot and cold, depending on the day, and who you are in relation to him. Most of the people see him as a guy with a good sense of humor, quick to make fun of himself if it helps to lighten the mood. He's also someone who has become highly dependable, and he has made sure to be there for friends as they need him, and he is someone who takes his job very seriously. He's determined to make a good name for himself, and while he's quick to anger, he's also quick to resolution, a short fuse very quickly put out. He has been known to go outside for a walk to quickly get his anger out and reappearing 2 minutes later perfectly fine.
• Relationship wise, Thom has pretty much always remained single, though he hasn't been without dates - he just can't seem to hold on to any long term relationships. He's got a lot of luck with women, and is not usually seen without a beautiful woman on his arms. That is not to say that he's not interested in long term relationships, because he is. He just has yet to admittedly meet the right person.
• Of course, if Thom opened up his eyes and looked right in front of him, he might realize that the person he wants to be with has been in front of him for most of his life, but since Thom is always quick to deny any feelings towards his partner, there is never any movement there. Thom is relatively hopeless when it comes to that.
